Why I hate math...

All pieces of fabric/vinyl/interfacing were cut from the SAME big square ruler.  How in the world does this happen...
AND..If ANYONE tells you vinyl is easy to sew on - knock 'em silly...

My new bag for my coffee pot.  Yes - I take a 12 cup carafe of coffee to work everyday and I drink every drop.  It really does stay hot for 8 hours.

Pefect fit..

OOOHHHHH look who's in Tallulah's bed...  The minute Chewie got up - she immediately got laid down and gave him a how dare you look...

Is that a red fish jumping out of a wave...

No - it may look like a fish but it is my new lunch bag.

I finished Nuclear this afternoon so I just had to sew something.  Idle hands...

Finally got it pulled the rest of the way thru the hole and yep - I ripped it but got it fixed.
I used a piece of flannel backed table cloth for the inside so that if something leaks, I can just wipe it off.

Got it turned and the upper edge sewn and no...though it may look like it's flipping you off, that was not the intent...

Ray is out of town this week visiting friends.  I had a delivery made to my door last night - somebody wanted to play fetch...thankfully it had not been dunked in the water bowl first!!  The only kitty I've ever seen that will catch it, bat it and bring it back to be thrown again!!  Right now she and Chewie are chasing each other all over the house!!  Silly kitties.

Tune in tomorrow - I will have a picture of Nuclear and I am also making a new bag for  my coffee pot.

Patience and a good night's sleep works every time

The quilt is back on - I managed to get it straightened up and rolled back on without having to rip out ALL of the thread.

yes - this is a wicked tool and it does the job

Did I mention this thread is 10 bucks a spool...

FINISHED!!  Ready to trim off and sew on the binding -- Since I have gone thru all 4 seasons of Mad Men I will have to start watching LOST when I sew bindings down...

My helpers - they are never far away

The Quilt Diva pattern - sure is a lot to trace and cut out
Page one of two

Quilt Diva - page two - wow-we that is a LOT of stuff to trace and cut out!!  I will need to iron the paper flat so I can get a good traced image

All of this will have to wait though - the Saints are playing the Falcons tonight.  I'm NOT a fan but my dad loved the Saints and this was always his favorite game of the year so tonight - I will have a beer and cheer for my Dad's favorite team since he is not here to do it himself.

Another beer please

Well...I started quilting and when I rolled the quilt up, I noticed serious pokeys - re loose stitches.  I decided to tear them out because they were in the whole first block.

I think this is what caused it - note the stitch length it wayyyy over and I did the first set of stitches on speed control which caused long - ruffeling type stitches.

I dialed it back and switched over to stitch regulated - this means the stitch length will stay constant and the machine only sews when I move the head

No - this is NOT good  and YES - the quilt has been detatched - I have to TEAR out all of the stitching on the first set of blocks.  I attempted to resew the first block and bad pokeys again.

I need to see what is going on but as I tore out the first set of stitches I unrolled the quilt and caused a massive mess underneath - the quilt did not line back up correctly

Good thing I have not gotten taken this class yet or I'd be having me some target practice...

I'm injured...it was bound to happen..

Note to self....make a NEW wrist pin cushion and put a piece of timtex on the bottom so the pins will not go thru and scrape my hand when I remove it....OOOWWWW...

Guess I didn't remember doing the same thing earlier in the week...

Nucelar backing is sewn together and rolled onto the frame.  The top is pinned but not rolled.

New sign for my sewing room - I LOVE SNOW and love to SEW...

Other new sign...

Seriously - Valentine stuff is in the stores!!!

Tune in tomorrow - hopefully the top will be pinned and rolled, bobbins spun and I can get started on the quilting!!

My hand, head, hip and eyes hurt - I am going to bed early...no decorating cookies or sewing anymore tonight...I just want to sleep...

Cookies done - no sewing tonight...

Got the cookies done - the nucelar quilt will not be delivered until after Christmas.  I'm a little disappointed but that's ok - I will have more time to find just the right color thread - black or red??  I'd like to find a varigated black/red so off to Joann's I go!!

I smell snowmen...see the nose in the air that appeared out of nowhere??

Our Charlie Brown tree....it was not planned this way

Not only do I smell stars, I see them too...AND...I moved to the other side of the table so YOU COULD SEE ME BETTER!!

There is as much about cookies as there is about sewing!!  Oh well - the only two things I've done this last week, sew and decorate cookies (and work...)

Borders sewn on, Hidden Moons delivered, 3 dozen cookies to ice

Whew - what a day - glad it was my off day - day off - hmmmm - for me it could be either.

Got up early and my hip STILL hurt  - ooowwww - I hate getting old = between hobbling and hot flashes, I feel like an old old lady.

Got the borders sewn down one side on the Nucelar quilt ( I have NO idea what else to call it, the official name is tropical but the colors are obviously NOT tropic colors).  Took my daily jaunt/hobble around the lake, got a note from mommie notarized at the bank for Ray telling his college he does live at home.  Ray mailed the cookies and divinity for me - hope they make it in time!!

Got back home and finished sewing the rest of the borders on the quilt.  Found three pieces of batting that I could sew together so I would not have to open a new package.  It is really expensive so anytime I make quilt, I am careful cutting the batting away - waste not, want not.  If nothing else, I can use the scraps for a rag quilt.

Once I got that finished, the cookies were in the oven and a new batch was cooling so I had to stop and make a fresh batch of icing to go along with the little bit left over from yesterday.

I got about a dozen iced and it was off to deliver Hidden Moons - had to get it wrapped.

Present wrapped, cookies on the tray and covered up - somebody thought SHE was getting a cookie...

Janice loved her Hidden Moons - I forgot my camera so I will go back over and take a good picture of how it looks - matched her paint perfectly!!

Time for bed now - has been a long day and 4:30 comes early!!

Tune in tomorrow....
Hopefully the quilt backing will be sewn together and the quilt rolled onto the frame - will not starting the quilting process because....

I have three dozen cookies to ice - Snowmen, Christmas Trees and Stars...

And I need to find time to put up a Christmas Tree and wrap the loot.

Cookies packed, divinity made, rainbow cirlce quilt

Cookies have been packed.  The divinity has been made.  Once it hardens, it will be safe enough to pack for shipping.

All of the rainbow circle squares have been sewn together - now to make them into big squares.

That takes a lot of pins because I have to match up 4 intersecting seams in each square then 5 intersecting seams when I sew the four together to make a big square.

My wrist pin cushion is loaded and ready to go.

First big square sewn and on the wall - I can use this one to know how to put the others together.

As I was sewing the little squares into big squares, I needed my full table top to lay them out.  I had to put my snacks on the floor.  "Somebody" came in and looked at me so pitiful but I was busy and didn't pay her much mind but when I looked down as I was pinning....guess being close to them was enough.

My other frequent visitor

I've got my EYE on you....

Big squares sewn together - they remind me a little of nucelar symbols - just the wrong color

Top all sewn together and the borders only stuck to the wall.  It is has been a long day and I am tired!

Glad somebody is napping - Why am I tired - fat boy woke me up at 6 am tapping me on the forehead - literally - with his paw and claw - pat pat - wake up - pat pat wake up - I'M HUNGRY!!  I could not get back to sleep!!  Reminded me of a time oh so long ago when somebody's kid woke me up at 5:30 am on a  Saturday by lifting my eyelid and yelling - wake up Miss Jimmie - I'm HUNGRY - I should have said - what the hell happened here Superman but not sure he'd coined that phrase yet...

Another big batch of cookies have been made - will ice tomorrow.  Must make some fudge, divinity and get the borders sewn onto the quilt.  Hopefully by tomorrow evening, the backing will be sewn together and both top and bottom rolled onto the frame for sewing.  Maybe I will get it finished it by Friday!

Cookies are done...Hidden Moons is ready for delivery..Santa came early

Cookies are done and they are YUMMY!!!  Red icing typically tastes yukky so I made the santa hats different colors.  Going to put eyes on tomorrow & will put some color drops on the trees.  Once the icing is hard enough, they will be packaged for delivery.

Christmas Trees - I found out pretty quickly the paint brush works really well.

Hidden Moons is done!!  Label cross stitched and sewn onto the corner of the quilt.
It is ready for delivery!!

OOhhhhh = look what I got in the mail today.  A friend gave me $100 in gift certificates from one of my favorite quilters - I got a log cabin ruler and book, a Kaleido-Ruler and book and a set of rulers that makes  guess what - yep - even more CURVES!!  Next time I think I may get the giant dahlia set of rulers!!

I am bushed and feel old - here it is just past 8 in the evening - Saturday night no less - and I am ready to hit the hay!!  I hate getting old sometimes.  It really sucks.

Tune in next time - I have two quilts ready to sew together - bobbins are spun and machine threaded, just need to head in and get started.  Doubt I will have it done by Friday but I'm going to try!!

Videos - Just Dang...

Apparently there is a known problem with videos not appearing in the google blogs - guess they FORGOT to tell ME!!

Alas, no more videos until I can figure out a plan "B"

I'm taking a sewing break this weekend so I can make divinity (that tastes just like my mama's), pralines, fudge and decorate some cookies.

Ok - maybe not a full three day break - I will start cross stitching the label for Hidden Moons and I want to start the Red Door and the Quilt Diva wall hangings AND the Carmel Swing Bag  - whew...oh wait - I have to sew the squares together for another curves quilt I have to get finished in 9 days...

Oh well - no matter what though, I WILL make the candy and decorate the cookies.
